Dee Anna (Dedie) Manitzas
|Dee Anna (Dedie) Manitzas has served as a volunteer on FORHA's Adopt-A-Highway program and has been a fairly regular attendee of FORHA board meetings for several years. Dedie has also served as a volunteer member of the Wildlife Education Committee for the city. She would like to serve on the FORHA Board of Directors to help preserve the quality of life we all enjoy in Fair Oaks Ranch.
Dedie and her husband had been aware of Fair Oaks Ranch since moving to San Antonio in 1973. They moved into their new home in Fair Oaks Ranch in June, 2008. Dedie, who had previously been a teacher and the Principal of an "at risk" school in the Edgewood ISO, was still actively working as an Assistant Principal at Stinson Middle School in the Northside ISO at that time.
She retired after 40 years in public education in 2012, took a little time off to travel, and then became active in civic activities in Fair Oaks Ranch. Dedie joined the Deer Meadows Estate Homeowners Association (DMEHOA) board in 2014 to fill an unexpired position. She was subsequently elected to fill a full term on the board and is still serving actively today.
Dedie's role on the DMEHOA board has included writing and publishing a monthly newsletter and maintaining the DME residents' directory. She has helped the HOA Board of Directors with organizing neighborhood events like National Night Out, an annual Fun Walk/Run event, and decorating trees in the neighborhood for the Christmas holiday season. Dedie also worked with some neighborhood volunteers to clean up and maintain the monument for Deer Meadow at the intersection of Keeneland and Ralph Fair Road.
Dedie holds a BA in Teaching from Sam Houston State University and an MA in Human Resources from Webster University. She spends her time volunteering in the community, playing bridge, traveling when she can, watching FOR wildlife, and attending grandchildren events. She and her husband are the proud parents to two children and have five grandchildren who all live in San Antonio. Her husband's 90- year-old mother, Dorothy Laughlin, has been living with them for almost three years.
